Recruitment is always a problem. Can you help?

Too many qualified applicants for the jobs you have open? Too few? One of the strengths of the WorkForce WV Employer Program is our ability to help you find the right individual for the job. Because potential employees come to us every day seeking training, job counseling and placement assistance, we already have in place a database of candidates for each position you'd like to fill. We can screen applicants for you, as well, so you will only need to interview those with the right skill set.

How can I receive training for my employees?

Through the WorkForce WV Centers, your existing employees can receive training to bring them up-to-speed with the new technologies and processes your company acquires. This can be done either on an individual basis or with groups. In most cases, we will match your needs with the right training vendors. We can also offer training programs that are customized for your company's requirements. As an added benefit, in some instances, we can offer matching funds for training, through the state- and federally-funded programs which support the Workforce Investment Board.

How can we take advantage of the internet?

The WorkForce WV Centers' online participation is all-encompassing, and can help your company in a number of areas:

  • Access to an extensive database of potential employees
  • Online labor market information
  • A vast network on which to post and manage job listings Experts at WorkForce WV can also assist you in updating your company's online presence, should this be desired.

I'm facing a series of layoffs. How can I help my employees?

The Workforce Investment Board (WIB) can help employers manage layoffs, reductions in workforce and reorganizations. One of the most important aids available to you through WIB is the help we can give your employees in the transition. To that end, we have created a program called Rapid Response. Rapid Response offers:

  • On-site assistance and orientation for dislocated workers
  • Education for employees in re-employment and re-training
  • Assistance in filing for benefits, where applicable
  • On-site workshops for career exploration, job search, resumé-writing, and the development of interviewing skills

Where is the best source for labor market information and statistics?

Becoming an Employer Customer of WorkForce WV will automatically entitle you to instant access to:

  • Wage and salary data
  • Local and regional employment statistics and projections
  • Data on our region's economic development
  • Information on, and the ability to network with, the other employers in our region and in the rest of West Virginia. Your WorkForce WV Center partners will also be available to evaluate marketing strategies for employers and the quality of referrals, as well as to co-ordinate business contacts.

Goodrich Corporation of Spencer, West Virginia, closed its doors in September of 2002. WorkForce WV Centers rapidly responded to this crisis, conducting informational meetings and an on-site career fair for the affected employees. Shirley Dawson, formerly the Human Relations Director of Goodrich Corporation, offered this comment on the services provided…..

"So many times, individuals and organizations outside West Virginia have a less than positive attitude about our State. Our company's opinions were changed to ones of great respect in 2002, due to the services and support provided to our employees by the organizations representing the WorkForce WV Centers. The high levels of professionalism exhibited by these organizations, and the levels of assistance which were provided, were unparalleled."
